Comedy cellar 8pm village underground vs regular 9:30pm show. The Comedy Cellar is a famous comedy night spot in the heart of Greenwich Village, New York City. The club was opened by owner Noam Dworman in 1981. Since then it hosts several shows every week.
Some of the performers stopped by include such comedy legends as Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Ray Romano and Louis CK, who as you might have noticed all started from the bottom, at the Village Underground.
A few months back I met with friends for drinks and food at Comedy Cellar on a Thursday evening and we decided to see what was going on upstairs. We went through the doors and walked into a room which had about 80 chairs set on tables running the sides of the rectangular room and an open space with a bar to the right hand side.
There was no stage or curtains or anything like that, just chairs facing forward to a TV that was playing something that had clearly been recorded earlier on in the day., I think a Saturday Night Live show if I remember correctly. We were also handed two different menus one for 9:30pm shows upstairs and one for 8pm downstairs… Wait… What?

One of the best clubs in New York City is the Comedy Cellar. It is THE place to see comedy in New York City (which is super important for any aspiring comedy writers). One might assume that the 8pm show is just an un-polished version of the main show you can see at 9:30pm; but rest assured, they are two entirely separate and unique shows.

The Comedy Cellar is one of the best comedy clubs in the world, and it’s not just because the talent that takes the stage nightly is top-notch. The club itself is a historic venue, having been established in 1982 as a place where comedians could perform with no pressure to sell tickets or get laughs.
The venue has since become a breeding ground for talent, leading to an impressive list of alumni who have performed there early in their careers. The Comedy Cellar has three locations: Greenwich Village, West Village and Gramercy Park. Each offers its own unique vibe, but all are equally worth visiting.
This location offers more seating options than the other two locations (including bar stools at the bar), making it more conducive to drinks after the show. It also has a balcony area that overlooks the main stage perfect for when you want to get away from all of the action below and still be able to see everything happening onstage without having to crane your neck or stand on tiptoes.

How early should I get to Comedy Cellar?
It’s always a good idea to arrive a little early. That way, you can have dinner and drinks at one of our great restaurants and bars before the show starts. We also recommend arriving no later than 7:00pm for weekend shows. This allows enough time for dinner, drinks, and general relaxation before the show begins at 8:00pm.
How to let go of resentment>Click here to read more!
Doors open at 7:00pm for weeknight shows, so we recommend arriving by 7:15pm or earlier if possible.I’ve been to the Comedy Cellar twice, and both times I’ve gotten there around 6:30. There was no wait and I got a booth right away.
Most of the time, there won’t be a line until closer to 7:30 or 8:00. If you get there before 7:00 PM, you’ll probably have to wait outside for awhile before you can get in. If you don’t want to wait outside (it’s cold), then get there at least 20 minutes before the show starts so that you can get inside quickly and find a seat.
When it comes time for the show, they’ll let people in as soon as they can fit them in without making anyone late for their show. So if there’s only two people in front of you with tickets, they might not let those two people in until 15 minutes after their scheduled start time so that they don’t make anyone late for their show.
The Comedy Cellar is a small, intimate club. It has a capacity of only 150 people and the show starts at 8pm. The line starts forming around 5:45pm, but we recommend getting there earlier than that (around 5pm) if you can. Comedy Cellar 8pm Village Underground vs regular 9:30pm show.
The first time we went there, we arrived at 4:30pm and had no problem getting in line. But the second time we went, we got there at 4:45pm and were pushed back to the end of the line because they had let in people who arrived before us. So if you have an option between arriving at 4:30pm or 4:45pm, choose 4:30pm!
I would suggest getting there 30 min before showtime. I’ve been to comedy clubs all over the country, and Comedy Cellar is one of the best.Tickets are $25 for general admission and $45 for VIP. The VIP tickets are not necessary if you want to see a show at Comedy Cellar. The only difference is that you get your own table, but it is still packed in so close together that you can barely move.
If the show is sold out, they have a waiting list that gets called when someone cancels their ticket. The wait list usually lasts about an hour before they start calling people up on stage to fill seats.
It’s always fun to go with friends or family who appreciate comedy because it’s nice to share the experience together, but it’s also fun to go alone because you never know what kind of people will be there (like me).The club itself has a nice ambiance and they serve drinks too!
If you want to get good seats, get there early. You can expect a line outside the door at any popular show. I don’t know what time they open the doors, but I recommend getting there at least an hour early if you want to be assured of a seat. If you’re in a group, I’d say 2 hours would be smart.
The wait is not always long, but it can be. When we went, there were maybe 10 people ahead of us and we waited about 15 minutes before getting inside. But I’ve also heard that sometimes it takes up to 3 hours!
Can you go to the Comedy Cellar alone?
Yes! The Comedy Cellar is a great place for solo travelers and groups alike. It can be fun to go with friends, but there’s no pressure if you want to go by yourself. You’ll find that the comedy club scene has a very welcoming vibe, so it’s not uncommon to see people sitting at their own tables, enjoying a night out by themselves.
The Comedy Cellar is a New York City comedy club that’s been open for over 25 years. It’s the place where many of today’s top comics got their start, including Louis C.K., Amy Schumer, Jim Gaffigan and more. There are many great reasons to go to the Comedy Cellar, but one of them is that it’s one of the most fun places in NYC to go alone. In fact, they encourage it!
The Comedy Cellar has shows every night of the week, so there are plenty of opportunities to go see a show by yourself or with friends. And even though it can be intimidating to walk into a comedy club by yourself, you’ll find that the staff at The Comedy Cellar are friendly and welcoming.
Once you’re inside The Comedy Cellar itself, you’ll feel right at home no matter what day or time you arrive. There are always plenty of people hanging around between shows who are happy to chat with strangers not just comedians but also waitstaff and other patrons.

The Comedy Cellar is a great place to go alone or with someone else who likes comedy. With plenty of food and drink options inside, it’s easy to spend an entire night there without spending any money at all.The Comedy Cellar itself is located in Greenwich Village a neighborhood that’s full of bars and restaurants that are frequented by locals. If you’re looking for more than just comedy, there are plenty of options nearby.
I don’t know if it’s a good idea to go alone. I’ve never done it, and I know that many people have been turned away because they were sitting at a table by themselves. The Comedy Cellar is a small room, and they want to make sure that groups of friends are seated together. If you go alone, they might not seat you at all.
I think that if you’re going solo on a Friday or Saturday night (when the shows are at 9:30pm), then you should call ahead of time and ask to speak with someone who works there. Ask if it’s possible for them to put you on a list for when there’s an opening that night maybe someone just canceled or something like that so that when you get there, you’ll be able to get in quickly. You could even offer to buy drinks for the waitstaff if necessary!
If it’s not too busy when you arrive, then maybe they’ll let you sit down immediately without having to wait around first. But if there are no cancellations or openings on the books, then they might turn you away altogether.
The Comedy Cellar is a comedy club in New York City that has been around since 1982. The club is located in Greenwich Village and has become one of the most popular places for comedians to perform and for people to go out and see them perform. It’s also a great place for people who want to learn more about comedy, so it’s not just for people who are already interested in stand-up comedy.
If you’re planning to go to this club alone, there are a few things you should keep in mind:
1) Go early if possible. If you want to get good seats, arrive at least an hour before showtime (this includes ordering food). This will give you time to look around and decide what seat you want before everyone else gets there and takes up every available spot they can find.
2) Buy tickets online beforehand if possible. This way, you won’t have to fight with other people when it comes time to order food or get drinks at the bar during intermission (between sets). It also allows you more time to relax before the show starts rather than having to rush around trying to find everything once inside the venue itself.

Comedy Cellar 8pm Village Underground vs regular 9:30pm show
We’re happy to provide you with a credit towards another show if you cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled showtime. So if you were given the option, which would you choose? With all the information we have been presented with, I believe that it is safe to say that your time and money will be better spent in the Comedy Cellar’s 9:30pm show than in getting a discount ticket to the earlier show at Village Underground.
And as always, if you want to make sure that you are making an informed decision before going out somewhere or buying a certain product, I would like to advise that you do your research beforehand.
It’s three AM; I have class in six hours. But the line is too long at the regular Comedy Cellar show and I’m thinking about running over to the Village Underground for their early show. There are a few more comics, but 11:30 PM is much later than 8 PM. What do you think would be best (or do you have a better alternative)?
The verdict on the bottom line? The Village Underground is more of a speakeasy than a comedy venue, and it will be less packed than the traditional Comedy Cellar show. But if you’re looking for an opportunity to see some of the biggest names in comedy, you might find that this private room isn’t all that special.
Of course, you may walk away pleasantly surprised with the quality of comedians you see over there perhaps the talent was nowhere near as good at the Comedy Cellar that night. Maybe it wa unusually bad crowd or person getting on stage – we’ll never know. The only way to find out is to try both venues, and then decide which one has better comics.
I’ve been going to Comedy Cellar for over a decade. The new location is an improvement in low-light conditions (but needs better ventilation). The late show is just as good as the early show, but both seats and drinks are cheaper at the 8pm show. I can’t recommend it enough it’s the best comedy deal in the city.
For those who love comedy, visiting the Comedy Cellar is a must. Booking all of the hottest comedians while they are at the beginning of their careers (who are willing to perform for much cheaper than they will later in their career) has earned the Comedy Cellar a reputation as being among NYC’s most prestigious and sought after comedy clubs.
